Nike Str8-FIT Driver with Wrench

Recently we got a chance to met up with Rick Clark, and test out the New Nike Str8-FIT driver. I love this club, but I wanted to get a chance to compare it to it’s rival the new TaylorMade R9, which is the club that everyone has been talking about.

The Two Drivers are both very adjustable, considering they both have new technology that allows the player to adjust the club face on the go, allowing them to create different angles of flight on the ball. They Both have multiple open,closed and neutral settings which promote left to right, right to left, and straight ball flights respectively.The R9 however has one extra feature. This feature allows the player to change the weight of the club head, using adjustable weights.

We tested both drivers at Performance ClubWorks, located at Golf Quest in Southington, CT. Brian Gehan, was more than helpful allowing us to demo these top line and high tech drivers. Performance Club Works is a one stop golf center where you can get a Top level Fitting for any amateur or professional golfer. This two time Ping regional club fitter of the year knows everything there is to know about golf equipment. If you need advice they are always a great bet.

We  devised a great plan of attack to compare these clubs. We used  3 seperate tests, in which we would  hit three balls using both club’s Neutral,Max open, and Max closed settings. From these three tests we figured out which club performed best making it the better Driver.

The Nike Str8-FIT(round Dymo) we tested  currently is going for around $299, While in comparison the R9 is about $399 in most golf stores. Both are very highly sought after drivers. Yet as you may have already seen the less expensive Nike Str8-FIT has better performance than the TaylorMade R9.

The Nike Str8-FIT in our tests, hit longer and higher shots than the R9 in the Neutral setting testing, while both drivers provided straight trajectories from this setting.  In the Max Open Settings we found that the Nike Str8-FIT had a more controlled left to right shot, producing better accuracy than it’s Taylor Made counterpart the R9. Last we found that once again in the Max closed test the Nike outperformed the Taylor Made, creating a great Right to left shot. The Taylor Made in this setting failed to create any hook from right to left so it was very easy to figure out the winner.

Out of our three tests, The Nike Str8-FIT won every one. For this reason we are proud to Salute the R@D of Nike Golf, because once again they have out done themselves putting the R9 to shame. Could it really be that 8 is Greater than 9?

During French Open Men’s final, today, Roger Federer was attacked. Yep Roger was attacked by a crazy Spanish guy during the second set. Attacked may be a bit of an overkill. Roger Federor seemed to cower but there really wasn’t much contact! Regardless of my interpretation, If you want to see video, he have it here. It turns out that in some countries people love to look at dead pictures of people. I guess it’s because we are all fascinated with the end, or death. Regardless I find it someone sad that some jerks have decided to attack the family of Carradine in such a way. This Death has been a shock to us all, but really now. It’s one thing to place some statements but to show a picture of a man who died of auto-erotic asphyxiation is just wrong. The hero from “Kung Fu” will not live to fight another day, and to me his family has all the right to take legal action against the thairath paper, from Thailand, who release his death photo. David is hanging on the left corner of the room, and it just doesn’t look very pretty. Sportsroids.com would like to send out our prayers to the Carradine family. Well often when I am too busy to get to a computer I check on the sports world and Sportsroids via my cell phone.  On my cell phone I get full internet access and can even type and submit articles for this website.  I just thought I would inform the world that this phone is the ultimate toughmans phone.  My phone is the Verizon Pocket PC xv6700 and this morning it fell out of my pocket on my way to the gym.  I did not notice that it had fallen out and I pulled out of the parking space, about halfway out of the lot I noticed I didn’t have my phone so I pulled back into the space to go back to the gym to see if I left it their.  Upon getting out of the car I saw my phone in the parking space with major scratches and dents as well as crushed metal on my mouse mover.  I then realized that I had just run over my phone in a Lincoln LS.  I picked up the phone and it was lifeless no pulse, it would not turn on, the screen was blank and scratched and I almost shed a tear.  Then just as I was in the store to get a new phone it sprung back to life right in my hands and it said to me “low battery”.  I thought “Amazing I just ran this phone over with my car and it still works” not only does it still work but all the buttons work as well and the touch screen save for a few scratches is fine as well.  I just thought I would share that with you because I find it freaking unbelievable, “ do you know how much a Lincoln Ls weighs (a lot).”  But sadly like the tough ironmen football players and boxers of yesteryear this phone has been discontinued  and  is no longer for sale, so if you want to buy it you can’t I guess it’s true what they say in sports and in life “they don’t make em like they used to.”

Tom Brady as well as SportsRoids Salutes Pink Hat Nation

We’ve been doing alot of work here at SportsRoids over the past month. It has been pretty demanding keeping up on and creating new content for our readers, but I would say that is the bulk of what we do. We get you new ideas new stories, and we never “copy and paste” like many other websites do. It is all to often that you’ll see a blog whose owner no doubt is only trying to make money on clickthroughs or Internet advertising campaigns and has devoted no time to producing original content for thier page. This is a sad concept but many people use it. SportsRoids will never just regurgitate some other sites content, because we believe that takes away from what we are, which is ourselves. We want you the reader to get chance to really know us. I am very happy to report that we at SportsRoids have found another blog which share this “original content only policy”. That blog is call Pink Hat Nation. These guys knew how a great sports blog is supposed to be run, yet they must have been chewed up by the rigors of running the site. Pink Hat Nation was a great friend to Sportsroids.com our beginning stages, We will leave up this salute in Memory of the late great Pink Hat Nation.
