Coyotes Howling

coyotes celebrate Coyotes Howling

On Wednesday night the Pittsburgh Penguins certainly did not look good in their loss to the Phoenix Coyotes; they simply didn’t play well. That said, the Coyotes looked very good and put on a pretty impressive performance. Phoenix showed glimpses of that last year but ran into what we’ll call a bit of bad luck down the stretch forcing them out of the playoff race. This is something that the people in the Phoenix area who support the Coyotes (as well as the Coyotes players) really need amidst all of the questions surrounding the team’s future. Hopefully the home opener is a sell-out so that these players know the fans are behind them despite everything; support that could perhaps push them into playoff contention at least for a while. The Phoenix area may not have the greatest hockey tradition or even the strongest fan base but they do not deserve what they have gone and continue to go through. So while it looks like relocation is in their future it would be nice to give the fans a chance to cheer and possibly build a fan base so if they do leave and another opportunity presents itself in the future the powers that be will know there is something to build on. So good luck to you Phoenix, here’s to hoping for a strong showing this year and a rational ending to all of the chaos off the ice.
