Well it is officially football season so before any snaps are taken I will be giving you my Super Bowl picks. As you recall last year I called it right, just check the link. This year it was a little harder to decided. The Patriots look like they will return to power and the Colts, and Eagles look like they will be contenders. Not to mention the Giants who could be a quiet storm this year. So; who you say? Who is going to the win the Super Bowl this year?

Well Look for the Eagles to make all the way to the Super Bowl this year. They should have won their division last year but they came up just short. Now with a lot more fire power Mcnabb should have one of his best years ever. So will they win it? No. That s right the Eagles will lose in the Super Bowl too…

THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS: That’s right a repeat. Why? Because only injuries can stop the Steelers from being the champs this year. Baring any long term injuries to Big Ben the Steelers should be able to pull off the repeat easier than people think. The schedule is a lot softer than it was last year and the depth is solid. So those are my Super Bowl picks for this year, right it down, and “T.J. Hushmazo lock it up”

Also Mad’Nuff Monday night guarantees are back and better. Stay posted.

Well after Thursday night there is one thing that is clearly apparent and that is the good get better. All eyes were on Tom Brady last night in his first action since game 1 last year. Tom Brady proved to be very good for his first game back. He was accurate but did have trouble with the deep ball you can tell that he is still leery about his knee when he has to sit in the pocket for long, but other than that he looked good. One thing I noticed is the bend in his knees when he dropped back and the slight bounce or chop in his feet. He still has a long way to go in that department but I say the effort to break his old habit of a straight leg delivery and little motion in the pocket was apparent. Brady looks to be dangerous in this upcoming season.

On the other side the defending champs , believe it or not, look like their defense has only gotten better. It was an actual shock that the starters played as efficient as they did and were able to make plays with out doing as much scheming and blitzing as they will do in the regular season. The only weak point could be seen in the number two corner spot where you can tell the young corners are still trying to find their stride. The positive of that is that Polamalu was able to pick up the slack for those corners while he was in the game. Write this down now, “You will see the Steelers defense be even more dominant this year than they were last year”. I know it is just preseason but Vegas has gotten the top two teams write this year maybe just not in the correct order.

Well it is officially the start of training camp for the NFL which means that football season Is just around the corner. While teams like the Steelers, Patriots, Giants, Colts, and Ravens are sure to have winning records. I would like to give you the teams to look out for this season, Mad’Nuff’s sleeper picks.

Houston Texans: The Texans have been competitive for the last two years in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. Playing the likes of the Colts, and the Titans twice each year and usually these two teams would be too much for the Texans to handle but this year is different. The Texans are going to finally have some continuity this year, and a decent amount of experience on both sides of the ball. While the Titans have no shot at performing the way they did last year and the Colts abilities have yet to be seen with the changing of coaches. Look for the Texans to make the playoffs this year and possibly even win their division.

Minnesota Vikings: There had been a lot of talk about Favre coming to this team but the truth of the matter is he won’t and he is not needed. If Childress does the right thing and Starts Tavaris Jackson look for the Vikings to win their division and steamroll into the playoffs. This is a 9 win team without a quarterback, and if any QB plays well for them this year they are a lock for 11 wins.

San Francisco 49ers: Yeah Ok maybe they aren’t a lock for the super bowl, but this is a team on the rise in the worst division in the league, the Cardinals made it to the super bowl last year but that easily could have been any one of the teams in that division. With Mike Singletary at the helm the team made leaps and bounds last year. A team with this much potential only needs to harness it and they could easily win their division. Look for the 49ers to have their first winning season in a long time and be in playoff contention.<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4356" src="http://sportsroids.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Mike-Singeltary.jpg" alt="Mike Singeltary MadNuffs BACK!
Well by now we have all heard about James Harrison’s comments on not going to the White House. My questions is why is everyone making a big deal about it. Harrison stated that

“This is how I feel — if you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don’t win the Super Bowl. As far as I’m concerned, he [Obama] would’ve invited Arizona if they had won.”

I completey agree with him now persoanly I would go and vist the President. But what he is saying is that it just isn’t that big of a deal to him. Every time a team wins the Super Bowl they go and vist the White House “everytime” When somethig happens eveyrtime it is no longer special it is just tradition. Harrison is saying that he wants to go to the White House when he is a special guest for a special reason other thatn the fact that he won. You play football to win the Super Bowl period. You do not play football to win the Super Bowl and go the the White House. If Obama was a huge Steelers fan and in the middle of the season invited the team to the Whtie House because of that I am sure James Harrison would go because then it would be special. He didn’t go last time and he is not going again, not a big deal.

3: chiefs: Eugene Monroe: Kansas has more holes than the finest Swiss cheese, their start by finding someone to protect Cassel but they could take anyone.

4: Seattle: Mark Sanchez: looking for the next Hasselback type, Mark Sanchez is the perfect fit for a what is really a solid team.

5: Clevend: Aaron curry: Celvend has some gaps to fill but they have a big time reciever and two potential starting QB’s they are going defense and Curry will work wonders behind Shuan Rogers.

7: Oakland: Jeremey Macklin: Macklin is the second best receiver in the draft but his speed is what Al Davis likes, this would make the raiders offense extremely fast.

8: Jacksonville: Micheal Crabtree: This is a no brainer for the Jags who have no recivers left, Crabtree is my most sure pick of the draft.

16: San Diego: Rey Maulauga: This works out well a great addition to a soild defense and he played at USC.

17: N.Y. Jets: Hayward-Bey: Jets have a lot of questions on offense but receiver is the most immediate concern.

18: Denver: Brian Cushing: Big physical presence in the middle again Denver goes defense.

Tom Brady is Ruining football!!!!!!

First it was the tuck rule now it is the Brady rule. The NFL will pass a rule that says players currently on the ground cannot attack the quarterback below the waste, whether he is in possession of the ball or not. This rule is supposed to be in place to protect the quarterbacks but the Quarterbacks don’t need any more protecting. In the last 10 years only 2 quarterbacks have suffered injury from a player grabbing them while on the ground, Tom Brady, and Carson Palmer. Both of whom are now fine and will be playing in the upcoming season. To be honest I am sick of Tom Brady ruining football the tuck rule was bad enough but this is just plain stupid, they are changing the game in manner that it should not be. Defensive players soon will no longer be allowed to do anything and all football games will look like arena football. The thing that NFL has forgotten is that Carson Palmer and Tom Brady’s injuries are their own fault. Tom Brady has a sloppy throwing stance and lazy legs in the pocket, that makes him stand with straight legs when he is in the pocket, so when he throws the ball there is no give in his knees if a defender were to hit him. That is why Brady got injured, his lazy legs and an inability to chop his feet in the pocket. If you look at almost every other quarterback in the league including Peyton Manning they all chop their feet to a degree in the pocket so when they get hit low there is give in their knees. Tom Brady’s injury was inevitable because of this straight leg pocket stance all quarterbacks with stances like that get knee injuries. The NFL just needs to tell Tom to chop his feet and be more active in the pocket and the problem would be solved.

Well T.O. has been cut from the Cowboys and many people are asking why not trade him instead of cutting him. The Cowboys gave up a lot to get Roy Williams and the possible could have gotten some of that back by trading T.O.. In this situation you have to weigh the pros and cons of this move, whenever you have a player like T.O. you can get a second round pick or proven vet in a trade but the trading block process is long and tedious (almost like litigation). It could take all the way into the next season for them to get what they want from a trade and they might not even get what they want from trading T.O.. This would then bring the media circus back to Dallas again and put a lot of stress on the team. The Cowboys decided to get rid of T.O. now, just for the later reason. By cutting T.O. he is no longer a part of the time and the organization can move on in new direction. The main reason he was cut was because of the growing sentiment in the locker room and organization, with numerous people who are a part of the team both players and staff, that T.O. needed to go. Also by doing this it is easy for the coaches to begin work on the plays and routes that they will focus on in the off-season if T.O. was on the trade block, they would still have to factor him in, just in case he was coming back next year. Despite the value T.O. has as a trade the Cowboys made the right decision in cutting him.
