Weekly top 10

December 14, 2008 by MadisonMadnuff · 3 Comments

The top ten for this week is a little late but that is because I actually had to do some research for this one.  It seems like when I came back from vacation the NFL was in turmoil. Pac’Man was reinstated. Players were in trouble for using banned substances. Plaxico Burress had even shot himself in the leg. In light of all these circumstances I have decided to do the NFL’s top 10 f*”&k ups.  My criteria is not solely based on behavior, but on the talent of the player as well, meaning bums who got into trouble don’t make the list.  Here you go.

1)O.J. Simpson

“Come on O.J. really?”  I am not going to talk about what O.J. did He just should have known that when they had the chance they would get him.  O.J. is the clear number one on this list. After dodging one major bullet, O.J. decides that he is going to step in front on another one 13 years later.

2)Rae Carruth

This guy was on a budding franchise known as the Carolina Panthers, and then does one of the most horendous crimes you can commit… murder.  This guy set his wife up, and thought he had gotten away with it.  When the cops came to get him he tried to hide in the trunk of his car? What!!!? Clearly this guy makes one of the top spots on the list.

3)Nate Newton

The infamous Nate Newton from the infamous Dallas Cowboys - this guy was just crazy.  He was busted with an unbelievable 213 pounds of marijuana.  Nate was quoted as saying “I wanted to be the biggest drug dealer ever.”

Well Nate, if you believe it you can achieve it. Way to dream big.

4)Bam Morris

Big Bam Morris played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ravens, and like his friend Nate Newton, he got busted for drugs.  However unlike Nate, he just kept messing up; he was charged with possession of 4 kilograms of marijuana and 1 gram of cocaine in 1996, then charged with battery in 1997 and then pleaded guilty to drug trafficking in 2000.  Then just to ice the cake he violated his parole in 2001 and was sentenced to 10 years in jail.

5)Maurice Clarett

This guy wasn’t in the league but for a split second, but it doesn’t matter now. Still, you really couldn’t doubt that he was talented.  However, after getting drafted, despite being out of shape and overweight, he decided that he wasn’t going to bust his butt to get into shape for camp.  This lead to him being cut which lead to him trying to rob a store and subsequently being sentenced to jail, for robbery, and holding a concealed weapon without a permit.

You should have taken the guaranteed money Maurice.

6)Plaxico Burress

Plaxico Burress f&**ed up just in time to make this list. Instead of being known as the guy who caught the winning touchdown in the Superbowl, he is now known as the guy who shot himself in the leg.

That is an NFL first congrats to Plax.

7)Mike Vick

Well we all know the story of Mike Vick and his dog fighting (not to mention that his brother also got into a lot of trouble). Mike only comes in at 7 on the list because he is a genetic f”*&k up. It is in his genes to mess up. I honestly believe that he can’t help it. Again, just look at his brother.

mike vick 300x204 Weekly top 10

8)Pac’Man jones

Pac’Man is another one of those gentic f*&k ups. It seems like he just can’t help but to mess up.  Pac’Man made it rain in Las Vegas to the tune of $80,000, but then decided that he wanted the rain back.  When he couldn’t get it back there was a scuffle and someone got shot.  “Great job Pac’Man”; and that is just the most publicized incident. He has some many others that it would take 3 articles to go through all of them.

9) Ricky Williams

Ricky is low on the list because he is just plain silly. The guy is one of the most talented backs ever, but he loves to smoke weed.  So much so that after he got suspended multiple times for it, he decided that he would just retire so he could smoke all the weed he wanted.

That is what I call dedication.

10)Antonio Bryant

A more recent name is Antonio Bryant. He is on the list because of his off-field troubles as well, but what really puts him on the list is his talent.  Antonio is one of the most talented receivers in the league but the guy was not even in the league last year.  After some smaller off the field troubles in Dallas, and Cleveland, he capped it off by driving over 100 mph in his Lamborghini while intoxicated which lead to his suspension in San Francisco, and ultimately his dismissal from the team. The guy was such a f*&k up that last year he was eligible to play in the NFL, but no team wanted to take a chance on him and now look at him.  All I can say is “Don’t blow it Antonio.”

Fantasy Football Free Agent Strategys Week 8

October 22, 2008 by MarkM · Leave a Comment

If you have been playing fantasy football, you can see that this year has been pretty different than in years past. This year, there are a several big name players who just haven’t been producing the ways we thought they would on draft day. One example of this for many of us, is Chad Johnson AKA Ocho cinco AKA Ocho Stinko. Chad Johnson numbers have been nothing more than pathetic, this season.  He has not posted over 60 yards in any game and he also only has 2 td’s. This is a fantasy nightmare, Chad just has not been himself to say the least and it sucks because most people don’t know when to cut their losses, especially when it is a previously elite wide out. Week 8 byes are Chicago, Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota. However, you can still get quality pickups and starts through some of the top Free Agency moves. Their are alot of sleeper and great pickups out there in fantasy leagues so keep your eyes on these players.

Antonio Bryant of Tampa Bay Bucs

Antonio Bryant of Tampa Bay Bucs

1. Antonio Byrant- He has been playing, while Joey Galloway has been rehabbing a injury, John Gruden has stated that this WR has earned the Number 1 role and will not be moved no matter what during the rest of the season. Antonio Bryant was a top pick and has the potential to lead the league leaders in stats for a wide-out. This year, He has posted great numbers while Garcia has been in. Considering that Garcia is now the starter, Antonio will be a great pickup for anyone trying to revamp their wide outs. He is only owned in 60% of fantasy leagues so jump on him now!

Jeff Garcia QB Tampa Bay Bucs

Jeff Garcia QB Tampa Bay Bucs

2.Jeff Garcia- He won’t win you a fantasy title, but he definitely won’t cost  you one. Jeff Garcia has been one of the most consistent fantasy QB’s over the last two years. If you are looking to add depth to your QB positions, look no further. He has been named the starter for the remainder of the season. He is only owned in 52% of fantasy leagues and that is just wrong. After a 300 yard outing in week 7 I would have though he would have been a top pick up in free agency.

Cedric Benson Starting RB for the Bengals

Cedric Benson named starting RB

3. Cedric Benson- I am not saying this guy is going to be a superstar back this season, but he has a renewed sense of urgency. This guy knows that he needs to get it done, and had a good showing on the Steelers piling up over 50 yards on the stingiest defenses against the run. Cedric Benson will not have the superior blocking he had at Chicago, but I guarantee you he will have a better attitude. He knows that he will have to work for everything. He has been named the starting RB for the remainder of the season, if you need another RB he is another person to look at. He is owned only in 39% of fantasy leagues so he is a definite sleeper pickup.

Other Notable pick ups

4. Lamont Jordan- For week 8, if Sammy Morris is injured and can’t go you must go with Jordan. The patriots have ran by committee all year but now they have no choice. If Morris does not play Lamont is the only RB with experience on the team.

5. Sammy Morris- Looks like the RB of the Pats future. Keep your eye on this guy. Remember last season he outplayed Maroney for the starting spot early in the season. I would not be surprised to see this guy being the staple of the Pats offense for the remainder of this season.

6. Cadillac (Carnell) Williams- This man is a elite NFL RB, who has been rehabbing his injury for over a year now. He was a top recruit and will be returning off the PUP list during Week 8. John Gruden has liked what he has seen from Cadillac and has stated that with him back, the Bucs will without fail receive a boost. It is very possible with Warwick Dunn hurt that he will receive a bulk of the carries and may reclaim his starting role sending Earnest Graham back to the FB position. Keep your eyes on this guy due to his explosive potential. Also if you need a RB and you have the room pick this guy up, the good in this case shouldoutweigh the bad later in this season. Personally, I am going to ride this pickup later on in the season to a fantasy championship.

Whining on Wannstedt. A SportsRoids exclusive

Whining on Wannstedt

By Madison Mad’nuff

Pittsburgh Panthers Coach Dave Wannstedt

Pittsburgh Panthers Coach Dave Wannstedt.

As the Pitt Panthers continue their season one has to wonder if Wannstedt was the right choice for  the University.  To me Waanstedt is just another big name hire that most people knew would not work.  When you are a Pittsburgh guy like Wannstedt is, and are beloved by the city it makes it easy for Pitt to hire the guy, but why?  This is eerily reminiscent of the Nebraska Cornhuskers the only difference is Wannstedt has not been fired yet.  But if he does not produce this year I would expect him to be. When you remove a guy like Walt Harris who (I will admit) couldn’t go all the way or recruit the best but still had the ability to build a program; and replace him with a big name you better have that guy deliver and Wannstedt has not. So when do you pull the plug? I say now before Pitt loses 6 more games. Walt Harris was able to come up with some big time names at least, Larry Fitzgerlad, Antonio Bryant, Latiff Grim,  Keavan Barlow, and Wannstedt has not .  To Me Waanstedt was on his way out last year but then Pitt pulled of the miracle and bet WVU. Which earned Wannstedt another shoot to win 5 or 6 games and get fired.  Walt Harris at least had a winning record, Pitt needs to end this and pick up or hire a proven coach from a smaller school, “Frank Solich anyone”? “I’m just sayin”
